CARY, N.C. (March 02, 2016)

John Haywood, managing director for Verdesian Life Sciences Europe, has announced his retirement, effective April 1. Since joining the Verdesian team in 2013, Haywood has served in a number of roles and provided highly technical and strategic support through a wide variety of key markets.

“It’s been a wonderful journey, from starting on my own, to building a team that has since become part of the Verdesian family,” Haywood said. “The plant health and nutrition space is the most rapidly growing sector in global agriculture. I am proud of the contributions my team has made to position Verdesian as a leader in a range of technologies that will provide major benefits to growers across the world.”

“John has been a valued member of the Verdesian team and many of our great successes throughout Europe can be attributed to his contributions,” said Greg Thompson, chief operating officer of Verdesian. “We are thankful for his strategic leadership and look forward to his continued guidance as an owner and board observer.”

Before joining the Verdesian team, Haywood served as the owner of Plant Syence, a specialty company that developed unique technologies supported by independent research for the agricultural, horticultural and amenity markets within the U.K. and Europe. The largest biostimulant brand in the U.K., it led the country to become the first to launch Take Off® technology in agriculture. With a career spanning 28 years in agriscience, Haywood and his team developed an industry-leading range of nutrient and biostimulant treatments.
