After all, in 2016 he was the first person hired to focus the business in Canada.
It shouldn’t be surprising that Joe was tabbed for the role. After all, he’s been in the agriculture industry professionally since graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 1997, not to mention he grew up on a mixed farm an hour away.
“I have seen the demographic of farming in my area change from the older guys in their 60’s that are price sensitive and running a few thousand acres, to their kids and grandkids running the show and focusing on sustainability for their kid’s future on 10,000 acres,” says Joe. “This is encouraging, and I feel like Verdesian is the industry leader that this generation can benefit from.”
Farming is in Joe’s blood for sure; he got into the ag industry because he has a passion for understanding how things work and is always up to the challenge of building something or making something grow. In addition, Joe has dabbled in many things such as distilling, bee keeping, tanning hides, tapping maple trees, and has even attempted growing edamame beans on the family farm.
Before joining Verdesian, Joe worked for companies such as Cargill, PROTEC, Novozymes and Monsanto, with many developmental roles.
Like most Canadians, Joe lives in an outdoor paradise and tries to take advantage of that every chance he gets. Outside of all that, he is an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football club.
