Meet The Nutrient Use Efficiency People™: Jim Pullins

Jim Pullins is passionate about inoculants. After all, anyone who put in the time imagining and then bringing to life the FlexConnect soybean inoculant transfer system has to have a deep-seated desire to help farmers grow more and help seed treaters save time while making more money.

“I’m just so happy that Verdesian Life Sciences has been able to revolutionize the soybean inoculant industry with the offering of FlexConnect,” says Jim. “I spend a large part of my days with seed treaters all over the eastern United States, so I like to think I’m tuned-in to the issues that they are facing day-in and day-out. As ‘The Nutrient Use Efficiency (NUE) People,’ Verdesian is committed to making seed treaters’ jobs better – and more profitable.”

Jim is a Technical Sales Representative for Verdesian. He is a native of Kentucky who now lives in Ohio and whose territory covers Illinois up to Michigan, and then over to Delmarva all the way to Maine. Jim has extensive professional experience in production agriculture, including specialized knowledge in weed control, seed, biotechnology, biological product integration and production systems in large grain operations. Jim sums it up this way: “I spent a large part of my career keeping it clean between the rows, then productive in the rows and, now, I’m focused on what happens under the rows to improve results.”

But he is particularly fond of ST&I work; he is not afraid to hit the road to spread the gospel of inoculants – or to get in front of a camera to educate growers, treaters and retailers, which is why you may recognize him.

Prior to joining Verdesian, Jim was a territory business manager at INTX, a legacy Verdesian company. He also boasts experience with Becker-Underwood, National City Bank and Monsanto. Jim is a proud graduate of Eastern Kentucky University (bachelor’s degree in animal science), and he has held his Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) certification for more than 15 years. He is also passionate about his family – and he enjoys a round of golf here and there, when he is able to.

“I’m so lucky that I get to wake up every day and talk to people about something I absolutely love,” he says. “And I hope that passion and care come through.”
