Meet the Nutrient Use Efficiency People™: Eric Luce

Those who have the pleasure of spending any amount of time with Eric Luce immediately discovers his robust passion for agriculture.

Eric Luce’s family has farmed in Central Illinois for generations, so it’s no surprise that Eric has made a career out of agriculture. And those who have the pleasure of spending any amount of time with Eric immediately discovers his robust passion for it.

Today, Eric is the Technical Development Manager for Verdesian Life Sciences, with a territory that covers the eastern United States.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time since joining Team Verdesian,” says Eric. “I enjoy a rich work balance with a perfect mix of Technical Development Manager and Technical Service duties, along with Project Manager responsibilities for several new products in our nitrogen management pipeline.” At Verdesian, Luce also gets to continue his past work with field trial and lab research collaborators in Latin America, and a leadership role in the agriculture sustainability space.

Eric has extensive agronomic experience in the U.S. and around the world encompassing operations management, business strategy and product development. His previous roles include serving as Global Crop Technology Leader and a Process Safety Specialist – Global Seeds at Dow AgroSciences, and as a Location Production Manager in Global Parent and Pre-Commercial Seeds at DuPont Pioneer, as well as an Assistant Location Production Manager and Senior Agronomist for commercial seed production and sales support, also at DuPont.

Eric earned a Bachelor of Science in General Agriculture from Southern Illinois University, his MS in Agronomy – Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Pioneer Institute at the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University. Eric is a Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) and a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA), and he is active in the American Society of Agronomy and its membership communities.

Eric married his college sweetheart, Michele – also from the College of Agriculture. They have been blessed with Andrew, Madeline, and James. Five years ago, Eric and Michele adopted a fourth child, Houston, a rescue Chocolate Lab originally from Houston, TX.

“As usual, the baby always steals for the attention!” joked Eric.

Eric and Michele stay very busy with family, church, university/fraternity, and work activities.

“We really enjoy watching our children plan and execute key life decisions that afford them an opportunity to succeed in their university academics and activities, and their early career accomplishments.”
